Already it's January and I only have one post on my blog - a sad state of affairs. As I sit here writing this I find myself looking forward to the semester ahead and thinking back over the semester I have just had. From the inactivity on my blog one might think that I have had nothing to write about, but this has certainly not been the case. I suppose I've just been having so much fun living the life that I've not found the time to write any of it down. However, as it is now 2010, a new year, I figure I should definitely start as I mean to go on.
While thinking back over last semester there are so many things I could write about but one memory in particular jumps out at me. One sunny winter day me and Hayley decided to help Nikki with a photography assignment. We were all having fun as we attempted to catch action shots of myself and Hayley leap frogging and hand standing all over the quad. As we got caught up in the fun of it all it soon enough seemed like an extremely good idea for us to attempt to get some shots up one of the nearby trees. Several minutes and a few struggles later Hayley was gracefully perched over a branch while I was ungracefully wedged between the tree trunk and another branch. As I lay stranded there with my bum in the air, my high school musical socks proudly on show and a group of boys stood nearby laughing part of me felt that I should definitely be embarrassed. However, in reality the whole experience was hilarious. I knew if I fell that Nikki and Hayley would catch me so I was able to just lie there and be amused by the tangle I found myself in. Eventually we managed to pull me into a sitting position, but not before I nearly tumbled backwards out of the tree to what would almost certainly have been a broken neck!! However, as predicted, the girls caught me and I was able to descend from the tree without serious injury.
This is one of my favourite memories from my time so far at UNC because it epitomises the fun I have had here. It also includes two of my very best friends who have made my time at UNC perfect. They have given me the confidence to do things that I wouldn't in the past and the confidence to be the type of person I want to be. They've made me laugh, supported me when I've needed it and given me some of my most precious memories. Although their exchange is over and I have to continue this experience without them I'll remember all I've learnt from them and I'm confident I'll continue to climb more trees without them. I don't know what this next semester holds, but if the last was anything to go by it's sure to be a good one.
What a lovely story about you and your friends! Well done for diving back into the blogosphere xxx
